First shipment of Covishield vaccine arrives in Hyderabad

  • Hyderabad: Finally the wait is over as much-awaited COVID-19 vaccine has reached Hyderabad.

  • On Tuesday morning the first shipment of ‘Covishield’ vaccine has reached Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad. After the arrival, the vaccine has been shifted to the GMR cargo area.
  • The Telangana Medical Health Department is ready for the distribution of Covid vaccine. According to the sources the Government has made necessary cold storage facility at Medical Health head office at Koti. Security arrangements have also been made by the police at the cold chain facility.
  • The details of the selected beneficiaries in the first installment of vaccination have been registered in the COWIN portal and Dry run has already completed it.

CONCLUSION

  • In the meanwhile, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar held a teleconference today with all the District Collectors to review the preparations for launch of COVID-19 vaccination programme. Sensitized Collectors on the Programme which will be rolled out first for healthcare and other front line workers.
  • After the Government placing order for vaccines to Serum Institute India (SII), flights containing the loads of COVISHIELD have already reached New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Ahmedabad.
