IPL 2020, CSK vs SRH: MS Dhoni on edge to accomplish four huge milestones against Sunrisers Hyderabad

HIGHLIGHTS

  • One of the most successful franchises in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), has endured a difficult start to the new season.
  • With just one win in three games, CSK find themselves at the bottom of the points table ahead of their showdown against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), a team that has had a similar start to the new campaign.
  • The only difference between SRH and CSK at the moment is the momentum. While the Sunrisers bagged their first win of the season by beating table-toppers Delhi Capitals in the last game, the Super Kings have lost their previous two games with big margins.
  • MS Dhoni’s men, however, could welcome a couple of ‘ever-reliable’ players in the team in the match number 14 of the league.

  • MS Dhoni expressed his disappointment with the performances of his openers in the team and hinted at the inclusion on an extra bowler when the team returns after a 7-day break. One of Shane Watson and Murali Vijay is likely to face the axe, with the chances of the Aussie’s exclusion being higher as it allows CSK to field another overseas player.
  • One of Dwayne Bravo or Imran Tahir could be included in the team against the Sunrisers while Faf du Plessis, Ruturaj Gaikwad or Ambati Rayudu could be asked to open the innings for the franchise.
  •  Shardul Thakur could also be brought in the team in place of Kedar Jadhav who has looked surplus to requirements in the current system.

  • David Warner’s men struck the right chord for the first time in their last outing against the Delhi Capitals as Kane Williamson replaced Mohammad Nabi.
  • The inclusion of the New Zealand captain did devoid SRH of a bowling option but that also motivated the primary bowling attack to step up their game and deliver.
  • Warner and Bairstow are expected to continue their onslaught at the top while Manish Pandey will take up the No. 3 role in the batting unit. Williamson at No. 4 does give the Sunrisers the required balance they need to aim for big totals in a case where Warner and Bairstow fail to fire.
  • Rashid Khan was the man of the match for the team against the Capitals with his 3-wicket-haul. A lot more of the same would be expected of him against Chennai. As far as the line-up is concerned, SRH are likely to go unchanged.
