Karnataka withdraws night curfew day after imposing it - The Economic Times

  • A day after announcing night curfew in the state, Karnataka government today withdrew the order. Amid rising concern over the new strain of Covid-19, the state government had on Wednesday imposed night curfew from December 24 till January 2. The decision was taken after reviewing the situation on the suggestion of The Technical Advisory Committee, read a note from the Chief Minister’s Office.
  • The City (Bengaluru) police commissioner said that Midnight Christmas mass will be permitted today.
  • Karnataka had become the second state after Maharashtra to announce new restrictions this week as concern grows over the new strain, which is believed to be 70 per cent more infectious. Maharashtra announced an 11 PM to 6 AM night curfew till January 5 in Mumbai and other cities, a day after Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said he was against a night curfew although experts had recommended it.
