Rohit Sharma thanks Mumbai Indians players, management in touching speech

• Mumbai Indians (MI) lived up to the ‘favourites’ tag in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 as Rohit Sharma and his men defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) to lift their record fifth IPL title.

• Having won four titles going into the tournament, MI also successfully defended their title for the first time. It was also the first even year where Mumbai won a title in an even year.

• After Rohit’s men ticked all the right boxes in the tournament, the celebrations began. Mumbai were ruthless in their approach in most of the matches in IPL 2020 and all the hard work put in by the players paid off.

• On Wednesday, Mumbai shared a video on their official Twitter account where Rohit was seen thanking the players, support staff and the management in a touching speech.

“Firstly, big congratulations to all of us. It was a great season for us, our season did not start in August, we started preparing way before. I remember it was during some tough times in June, we started preparing and it was never going to be easy. Once we came here, it was a new environment for us, not going outside the hotel but we were disciplined as a team and we were disciplined on the field as well that is why we stand with the IPL trophy,” Rohit said in a video posted on the official Twitter handle of Mumbai Indians.

Rohit also thanked players who did not get a chance to feature in the playing XI but were with the team throughout the tournament.
