TVS has entered the electric scooter segment with the iQube Electric scooter. It’s priced at Rs 1.15 lakh (on-road) and will only be available in Bengaluru for now. Bookings have begun for a token amount of Rs 5,000 via the company’s official website and select TVS dealerships. Deliveries will commence on January 27, 2020.

The iQube comes equipped with a tonne of features including a full-colour digital display that connects to your smartphone, LED lights, an illuminating logo near the drivetrain, under-seat light and a USB charging socket. Other notable features include Q-park assist, multiple riding modes, day and night display, and regenerative braking. Its ability to connect with your smartphone means you can check past ride stats, overspeeding and emergency alerts, battery charge status, last park location, as well as get navigation assist and incoming call/SMS alerts.

Powering the TVS iQube electric scooter is a 4.4 kW electric Hub motor and a set of 2.25kWh li-ion batteries that deliver a claimed top speed of 78kmph. It can travel up to 75km on a full charge. It’s quick too and bolts from 0 to 40kmph in 4.2 seconds. Although, the scooter is restricted to a top speed of 40kmph in Eco mode.

In terms of underpinnings, the scooter uses a telescopic fork and twin shocks at the rear. The scooter is anchored by a front disc and a drum unit at the rear. Its 12-inch wheels have been borrowed from the Jupiter Grande. The iQube weighs in at 118kg (kerb).

The TVS iQube electric scooter from TVS will go up against the Ather 450 and the Bajaj Chetak. TVS is also offering a 3-year/50,000 km warranty on the iQube.
