Karnataka HC to hear plea for cancelling SSLC Exams 2021 today

KEY STORY

  • Karnataka High Court will shortly hear a Public Interest Litigation, PIL on Karnataka Secondary School Leaving Certificate, SSLC Exam 2021. This PIL was filed in order to quash the notification issued by the State government on SSLC Exams 2021.
  • A Bench of Justice B V Nagarathna and Justice Hanchate Sanjeev Kumar will hear the matter shortly. According to this notification by the state government, it was decided that the Karnataka SSLC Exam 2021 will be held for the academic year 2020-21. The dates for the exams were decided to be July 19 and July 22, 2021.
  • This petition was filed taking into consideration the mental and physical health of the students during the on-going COVID-19 crisis in the country. It even stated that since the classes were conducted in online mode throughout the year, it became highly impossible for students to understand many subjects in online mode.

CONCLUSION

  • Further taking into account students in rural areas of Karnataka, the petition reads that most of the rural areas didn’t have any facility for online classes to be conducted and there are many areas where not a single class has been conducted.
  • The petition has been filed by S V Singre Gowda. Stating all such points, the petition prays for cancellation of Karnataka SSLC exams 2021 and calls the idea of conducting exams, bad.
