  • Father of the 18-year-old Delhi University student who was killed in the national capital over an alleged affair with a girl has rejected the allegations that his son had any affair and said he was an IPS aspirant who used to teach school students.
“My son was an IPS aspirant. He used to teach children and take tuitions. The nation has lost an IPS aspirant. I do not believe that there was any affair between him and the girl. They studied together,” he said.
  • The victim, Rahul Rajput, was a second-year student in Delhi University’s School of Open Learning. He also provided tuition to school students, police said.
  • The incident took place on Wednesday evening in northwest Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar.
  • According to the police, the victim was friends with a girl from his locality but her family was against the friendship.

CONCLUSION

  • On Wednesday evening, the victim was called to Nanda Road on some pretext and when he reached the spot, he was physically assaulted allegedly by a group of four-five people, including the woman’s brothers.
  • The woman’s brother and a relative were arrested and three juveniles apprehended in connection with the incident, the officer had said.
  • Meanwhile, earlier in the day, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia met the victim’s family and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh.
  • Talking to reporters, Sisodia said the Delhi government will ensure that the culprits get strict punishment at the earliest by appointing prominent lawyers in the case.
