New Delhi: India is likely to administer its first COVID-19 vaccine on January 13, suggested reports on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare announced that the overall burden on the country’s health delivery has declined significantly on account of coronavirus.

According to the reported feedback based on the dry-run, the government said it is ready to introduce COVID-19 vaccine within 10 days from date of emergency use authorisation.

It should be noted that Serum Institute of India’s (SII) Covidshield was approved for emergency use on January 3 while the similar permission was given to Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin a day later.
Meanwhile, during a Health Ministry’s press briefing in New Delhi, Secretary Rajesh Bhushan informed that there are four primary vaccine stores called GMSD located in Karnal, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata and there are a total of 37 vaccine stores in the country. They store vaccines in bulk and distribute further, he added.
