  • Oil marketing companies on Wednesday increased prices of domestic LPG cylinders by Rs 15 for the fourth time in two months. After this hike, the price of a non-subsidised 14.2 kg cylinder in Delhi is now Rs 899.50 and the new rate of 5kg cylinder is Rs 502. The revised prices are effective from today.
  • Earlier on September 1, prices of both subsidised and non-subsidised LPG cylinders were hiked by Rs 25. On August 17 also prices were increased by Rs 25 per cylinder.
  • The two main factors that determine the prices of LPG cylinders in India are global crude oil prices and the dollar-rupee exchange rate as crude prices are denominated in US dollar. While Brent crude prices have increased to their highest level since 2014, the dollar-rupee exchange rate on Tuesday crossed 74.50 mark, putting pressure on LPG prices.
  • As per existing rules, households are eligible to get 12 cylinders of 14.2kg each at subsidised rates. Any quantity over this has to be bought at market price or non-subsidised rates.

Here are the latest LPG price list for 14.2 kg cylinder in major cities:
