Hyundai Motor India on Thursday launched the 3 rd-gen i20. The premium hatchback will take forward the 12-year old i20 brand’s legacy in India.
The 2021 Hyundai i20 starts at Rs 6.79 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 11.17 lakh (ex-showroom). The petrol variant ranges between Rs 6.79 lakh – Rs 9.69 lakh (ex-showroom). The diesel variant ranges between Rs 8.19 lakh – Rs 10.59 lakh (ex-showroom). The turbo variant of the premium hatchback starts at Rs 8.79 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 11.17 lakh (ex-showroom).
The 3 rd-gen i20 will be offered in 3 engine options- petrol, diesel and turbo petrol. The 1.2-litre petrol engine manages to produce 83 PS of power and offers 114 Nm of torque and when paired with the IVT, it manages to produce 88 PS of power and offers 114 Nm of torque. The 1.5-litre diesel engine manages to produce 100 PS of power and offers 240 Nm of torque.The 1.0-litre turbo petrol generates 120 PS of power and offers 171 Nm of torque and is paired to either 7-speed DCT or 6-speed iMT. The turbo variant clocks 0-100 kmph in 9.9 seconds.

The 2021 i20 adopts the whole new ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design language and looks quite sleeker and bolder than all its predecessors as it discards the previously boxy design. The new avatar looks quite aerodynamic and the bold detailing gives it an aggressive character overall. The sharp LED headlamps with DRLs, LED foglamps, Z-shaped LED taillamps, elevated hood with strong character lines, flyback chrome waistline, shark fin antenna and the black accents on the front parametric jewel patterned grille, give the hatchback a slightly muscular look.
Inside the cabin, the hatchback looks quite appealing with the blue ambient light and the 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster combined with the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The 2021 i20 also features new Bluelink with 50 connected features that include OTA map updates. navigation, voice control wake up command, remote engine start, AC, lock/unlock and immobilization. The Bose 7-speaker stereo system further enhances the in-cabin experience.
The hatchback also boasts a one-touch electric sunroof, oxyboost air purification system, puddle lamps and dual Bluetooth connectivity.
CONCLUSION
The 2021 i20 offers better safety features than its predecessor that include the K-platform with 66% high strength steel, six airbags and rear camera simplify the parking experience.
