  • Amid a sharp spike in cases of new Omicron COVID-19 variant in the country, the Central government on Friday issued a new directive to all the States and Union Territories in a bid to contain the virus spread.

  • “Any individual presenting with fever with/without cough, headache, sore throat, breathlessness, body ache, the recent loss of taste or smell, fatigue, and diarrhea should be considered as a suspect case of COVID-19 unless proven otherwise,” the health ministry said in its new directive.
