  • D Ranadeep, the BBMP’s special commissioner (health and IT), told TOI, “Pregnant women need to be vaccinated for protection from covid-19. We are ready, and the State has asked us to wait till the health department issues guidelines. BBMP will soon be commencing vaccinations.”

CONCLUSION

  • Health experts have said that regardless of the shortage of vaccines, the government should consider pregnant women as a special category and vaccinate them on a priority basis.
  • Dr Soumya Lakshmi T V (Consultant-Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Aster CM Hospital) has said that the COVID-19 virus can affect pregnant women severely. She said expectant mothers could also get vaccinated at any point in time. The interval between the two doses can also be the same for any other adult.
