  • Bihar election 2020: The BJP on Tuesday rebuffed Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party, describing its alliance with Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) in Bihar as “unbreakable”.
  • With just two days left for filing nominations for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly Elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) on Tuesday unveiled the seat-sharing plan. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, while addressing a joint National Democratic Alliance (NDA) press conference in Patna, said that the BJP has been allotted 121 out of 243 seats, while the JD(U) has got 122 seats.
  • It is from this quota that the JD(U) has given 7 seats to Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustan Awam Morcha (HAM), announced Kumar. Notably, the HAM has already released its list of seven candidates.

  • The JD(U) chief added that talks between the BJP and Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) are in the final stages. The BJP will allot seats to VIP from its quota.
  • He further said, “We are not concerned with what someone speculates. We are working together and will do so.”
  • This is to be noted that the Lok Janshakti Party’s decision to go solo in the Bihar Assembly Elections changed the seat arithmetic within the National Democratic Alliance.
  • Meanwhile, Bihar BJP president and Lok Sabha MP from Bettiah, Sanjay Jaiswal, underlined that the BJP-JD(U) alliance is “unbreakable”.
  • “In Bihar, Nitish Kumar is the face of the NDA. Without his permission, none can either join the alliance or leave it,” added Jaiswal.
  • Earlier today, chief of BJP’s Bihar unit Bhupendra Yadav and party’s in-charge for the Assembly Elections in Bihar, Devendra Fadnvais, and other senior party leaders visited 1, Anney Marg, the official residence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Patna.
  • The first phase of three-phased polling will take place on October 28.
