CM reviews law & order situation with Sood after ABVP protests outside Min Araga’s residence

  • In the wake of pro-Hindu outfits staging protests outside residences of BJP leaders, Chief Minister BS Bommai on Saturday held a meeting with DGP Praveen Sood to review the steps taken to maintain the law and order situation in the state.
  • Earlier in the day, ABVP activists stormed inside the compound of Home Minister Araga Jnanendra’s bungalow seeking justice for slain BJP youth wing leader Praveen Nettar. Similar protests were staged outside BJP MP Tejasvi Surya’s office.
  • Anticipating that the unrest may further spread across the state, Bommai has directed Sood to tighten security in sensitive and hyper-sensitive areas especially in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Madikeri, Chikkamagalur, Belgavi, Hubballi and Dharwad regions where BJP is dominant.
  • Further, Bommai warned that he would not hesitate to take disciplinary action against any police official in case of a security lapse.
  • Meanwhile, ADGP Alok Kumar is reviewing the law and order situation in Dakshina Kannada. Checkpost have been erected on Kerala-Karnataka border areas and a tight vigil is being maintained here.
