A controversy has erupted just before the scheduled visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the state. Congress has raised objections to the reopening of Bengaluru Ambedkar School of Economics (BASE), which is already operating on the Bengaluru University campus.
-
The itinerary of PM’s Visit says that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the new BASE Campus built at a cost of Rs 201 crores.
-
But Congress’ Priyank Kharge raised objections to it. He claimed that the campus was already inaugurated by Dr. Manmohan Singh when he was the Prime Minister. “Why would @PMOIndia inaugurate an already semi-functional campus with 3 batches of graduates having already graduated?” he asked.
-
In a series of Tweets, Kharge shared the story behind instituting BASE at Bengaluru University. “Anyways, a little bit of history on Bengaluru Ambedkar School of Economics (BASE) that @narendramodi ji will be inaugurating tomorrow,” his post read.
