Delhi Woman Allegedly Sets Herself On Fire, Rescued By Morning Walkers: Police

New Delhi: A woman in the national capital allegedly set herself ablaze at a park on Friday morning. The incident took place inside the Buddha Jayanti Park, Sagarpur area of Delhi. The woman was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
At around 9.45 am, the police were informed about a woman who had set herself ablaze at the park (Representative Image).
The woman, who is said to be in her thirties, was rescued by a morning walker, who tried to douse the fire. The morning walker took help from others present at the park to help the woman.

Woman was carrying bottle of kerosene 

At around 9.45 am, the police were informed about a woman who had set herself ablaze at the park. Allegedly, the woman was carrying a bottle of kerosene.
After the woman immolated herself, a morning walker identified as Satyapal Singh, took the help of others to douse the fire. Singh also informed the cops about the incident, The Times of India reported.

Woman suffered over 90 per cent burn injuries

The woman was then taken to the DDU Hospital in an ambulance. The woman suffered 90-95 per cent burn injuries and was not in a condition to record her statement.
Singh said that he had seen the woman carry a kerosene can in her hands before she took the drastic spot. A 2-litre container of kerosene was also recovered from the spot. Ingit Pratap Singh, DCP, South-west said, “There were 50-60 persons present in the park at that times. It seems that the lady may have tried to commit suicide. Further enquiry is going on to ascertain the reason for the incident.”
