Education Minister thanks FM Nirmala Sitharaman for NEP’s good reception, shares fund allocation details

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Finance Minister, in her Budget 2021 speech, gave details about various pillars of the Indian economy. In the fourth pillar, she mentioned the “Reinvigorating Human Capital” or Education Budget of India 2021. She stated that the National Education Policy (NEP) announced recently has had good reception.
  • More than 15,000 schools will be qualitatively strengthened to include all components of the National Education Policy. They shall emerge as exemplar schools in their regions, handholding and mentoring other schools to achieve the NEP Policy’s ideals.

Education Budget of India 2021: Fund allocation details
  1. The current National Apprenticeship Training Scheme will be realigned for providing post-education apprenticeship, training of graduates and diploma holders in engineering. Over 3,000 crores to be allotted for this.
  2. The Budget allocation in the Flagship scheme of Samagra Shiksha is increased to Rs. 31050.16 crore in BE 2021-22 from Rs. 27957.32 crore in RE 2020-21. There is an increase of 11.06% in comparison to RE 2020-21.
  3. The budget allocation in Padhna Likhna Abhiyan is increased from Rs. 95.25 cr (RE 2020-21) to Rs. 250 cr in BE 2021-22 (an increase of Rs. 154.75 cr), i.e. by 162.47%.
  4. Allocation of KVS has increased by Rs 362.32 crore, and allocation of NVS increased to Rs. 320 crore w.r.t. RE 2020-21. The budget allocation of NCERT increased to Rs.110.08 crore from RE 2020-21.
While concluding his tweets on the Education Budget of India 2021, Education Minister says that allocation to the education sector will help implement NEP2020 successfully.
