  • A lot has been said about Wriddhiman Saha and the ‘respected journalist’ after the Team India wicket-keeper batter shared his conversation with a reputed member of a media outlet who forced him for an interview. One of the finest wicketkeepers in Test cricket, senior batter Saha was recently dropped from Team India’s red-ball squad ahead of the upcoming bilateral series against Sri Lanka.
  • Dropped from India’s Test squad prior to the Sri Lanka series, veteran wicketkeeper Saha revealed that head coach Rahul Dravid had told him to think about retirement. Taking to Twitter ahead of India’s next assignment against Sri Lanka on Saturday, wicketkeeper batter Saha also opened up about his horrific experience of interacting with a reputed journalist. Sharing a screenshot of his WhatsApp conversation with the media personnel, Saha slammed the respected journalist for using an arrogant tone.
“After all of my contributions to Indian cricket..this is what I face from a so called “Respected” journalist! This is where the journalism has gone,” Saha said in his tweet. The string of WhatsApp messages sent by the respected journalist to Saha has become a major topic of discussion in the Indian cricket spectrum. From former Team India head coach Ravi Shastri to legendary cricketer Virender Sehwag, a host of cricketers have extended their support to wicketkeeper Saha.
“Shocking a player being threatened by a journo. Blatant position abuse. Something that’s happening too frequently with #TeamIndia. Time for the BCCI PREZ to dive in. Find out who the person is in the interest of every cricketer. This is serious coming from ultimate team man WS, ” ex-India head coach Shastri said in his tweet.

While ex-coach Shastri urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president to look into the matter, former Indian opener Sehwag shared a hilarious meme to hit back at the ‘respected journalist’. Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh and ex-pacer RP Singh have also lashed out at the journalist after Saha shared the ‘threat’ messages. Harbhajan has urged the BCCI to protect Indian players in the aftermath of the controversy.
