HD Deve Gowda dials Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao, extends support in effort to unite opposition against BJP

  • Former prime minister and Janata Dal (Secular) president HD Deve Gowda, on Tuesday, spoke to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and extended support to his fight against alleged ‘polarisation politics’ by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). A release by the Telangana Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said that Deve Gowda promised to meet KCR in Bengaluru to deliberate upon the issue.
  • “Rao Saab, you are fighting very well. Everyone should fight against the communal elements. To protect our country’s secularism, culture, and diverse culture we will be with you and support you. Continue your fight and our total support will be there for you,” Gowda was quoted as saying in the CMO release.

    Will meet Thackeray, WB CM: KCR

    On Sunday, KCR had said that he would soon be holding meetings with Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in an effort to unite the opposition against the BJP. He also said that he may travel to Mumbai soon to hold a meeting with Thackeray.
    Rao, who has been critical of the BJP government at the Centre has even previously said that he would be playing a major role in uniting non-BJP political parties against the ruling party.
  • “The whole country is silent on the hijab issue, What will happen if this type of hatred in Karnataka is spread across the nation? Hate politics should be avoided. All the political forces in the country should unite and oust the BJP,” Chandrasekhar Rao had recently said.
  • Besides Rao, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin had, on Sunday said that CMs of non-BJP-ruled states would soon convene a meeting in Delhi.
