In a proud moment for the Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society (TMREIS), a brother-sister duo won gold and silver medals at the Boxing Development Federation of India’s fourth Junior Men’s and Women’s National Boxing Championships 2021 held recently at Sonipat , Haryana, was held.

Mohd Ajwad Ahmed of Asif Nagar, who is in class 9, competed in the 43-46 kg category and won a gold medal. Similarly, Ayani Sultana from Golconda, an intermediate student, competed in the 54-57 kg and won a silver medal.

Commenting on the achievement, Mohd Ahmed, a construction worker and father of the boxers, said: ‘I am very happy that my children paid tribute on a national level. As a result of Covid-19 pandemic, they had to go through a difficult time, but they never looked back. They did not stop exercising and struggled hard every day and today this dedication and hard work has paid off. ”

What we are today is because of the intensive coaching that TMREI Society offers. We never thought we would get glory at National’s at a young age. Now we want to one day represent in the international championship, ”said the brother-sister Duo Ajwad and Ayani.

They further thank the Chief Minister of Telangana, K Chandrasekhar Rao, for the best facilities and coaching. B Shafiullah, TMREIS secretary, expressed his best wishes to his brothers and sisters and urged them to earn a good name for TMREIS and the state of Telangana and become a role model for other students.

The TMREIS society ensures that students of the sports academy receive a good diet and training and also ensures fitness and endurance among students. Both Ajwad and Ayani will be further cared for to represent India to participate more in the national and international championships.
