KEY STORY
-
While cricket lovers are yet to get over Rahul Tewatia’s monstrous knock the other day, Rajasthan Royals gear up for yet another face-off in Match 12 of the Indian Premier League in Dubai on September 30.
-
Steve Smith & Co. are well placed at the second position on the points table and haven’t faced a loss yet. Moreover, the win against Kings XI Punjab must surely have boosted their confidence. However, a bowling change could be expected in the eleven ahead of their match against Kolkata Knight Riders.
-
The Knight Riders looked better in all departments of the game against the Sunrisers as new signing Pat Cummins put his debut nightmare behind to put in a solitary performance with the ball and also bag his maiden wicket of the season. As far as the batting department goes, however, there are still a few issues that have remained unresolved.
-
Andre Russell – unarguably one of the finest T20 batsmen in the world – didn’t get to play a single ball against the Sunrisers while Sunil Narine disappointed at the top once again as he opened the innings for KKR alongside Shubman Gill. Though the result remained a positive one for KKR, the question mark still remains over his role.
CONCLUSION
-
It was the same story last season too – where Russell had an infamous spat with Karthik over his batting position. With Narine at the top, it’s tough for Russell to bat before No. 6 position. However, many feel that the big-hitting West Indian needs to be facing more deliveries in order for KKR to challenge for the title.
-
As far as the game against Rajasthan goes, Karthik might persist with the same line-up and the batting order. But another failure at the top for Narine could force the franchise to make changes.
Will #RR continue their batting juggernaut? Or will #KKR find a way to stop #RR in their tracks?
