ISRO Begins 3 free short term online courses

  • Indian Space Research Organisation or ISRO has launched three new undergraduate, post-graduate courses online which would not charge any fee. The three courses would include Geographical Information System, Geocomputation, and Geoweb services. The duration of these courses will be around seven to 12 days. Candidates can enroll in one or all courses as per their need.
  • Free ISRO courses:

    1. Geographical Information System
    The free ISRO course has been designed to teach about geographic phenomena, concepts, and examples. The course will start from September 28 to October 15, 2020. The duration of the course is for four weeks.

    Content of the course

    Data Inputting
    Geographic Information System
    Spatial analysis
    Introductory concepts and overview.

    2. Basics of Geocomputation and Geoweb Services

    The course gives a brief insight into Geocomputation. It is a 2-week long course that would start on October 19 and end on October 29, 2020.

    The curriculum includes:

    Geocomputation technology and applications
    Introduction to online GIS,
    Geo-web services and repositories
    ISRO geoweb services
    Programming concepts for geo computation
    Introduction to Python and R

    3. Remote Sensing and GIS Applications

    Under this course, students will be able to learn applications of remote sensing, GIS applications for crop resource assessment and remote sensing applications for geological studies. The course will begin on November 02 and end on November 20, 2020.
