JEE Main 2021: To be conducted in February, March, April and May

This year, the JEE Main 2021 examination, which is used for admission to top engineering colleges, including IITs, would be conducted four times – February, March, April and May 2021. Stduents have an option of appearing for either one or all four. The number of attempts for this year is not limited and students can choose to appear for any, either or all of the examinations.

JEE Main 2021: Important changes introduced this year

    1. The first and biggest change is the number of times the examination would be conducted. Earlier, JEE Main was conducted in two session – January and April. This year, however, due to COVID and with Board Examinations likely to be spread across a longer duration and in different months, NTA has decided to conduct exams in February, March, April and May 2021.
    2. It is important to know that the student can, like earlier rules, appear for either one or this time, all four JEE Main 2021 examinations. Only the best NTA Score of the candidate would be considered for calculating the rank of JEE Main 2021, which would be announced after the result of JEE Main April 2021 examination.
    3. JEE Main 2021 would also be conducted in regional languages. Like NEET examination, JEE Main 2021 would be conducted in English, Hindi, Urdu and also in eight regional languages including Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu.
    4. Much like NEET, the regional language options would only be available in respective states where they are spoke. Only English, Hindi and Urdu option would be available at all examination centres across India.
    5. Due to COVID19, many boards have reduced the syllabus. Taking cognizance of the fact that this might lead to discrepancy, NTA has decided to revise the JEE Main 2021 paper pattern and introduce choices. Total number of questions required to be attempted, however, would remain the same at 25 each in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
    6. For 2021 examination of BE, BTech, candidates would have to attempt 20 Multiple Choice Questions or MCQs which would carry negative marking. For the Section B, however, students would be required to attempt 5 out of 10 questions. For this section, there would be no negative score. Simillarly, for B.Arch and B. Planning, students would get a choice in the numerical question section where they would be required to attempt 5 out of 10 questions.
All the students are advised to go through the notification released carefully before filling the online application forms. Link would be activated today on jeemain.nta.nic.in.
