Karnataka Colleges to reopen from July 26, Only vaccinated persons allowed

• Karnataka colleges are reopening from July 26, 2021. It has been decided by the State Government that institutes of higher education will be allowed to reopen partially or fully only for the vaccinated students and staffs. The detailed guidelines and SOPs are yet to be released by the government.

• A recent Tweet from the news agency ANI reads,”At a meeting of CM BS Yediyurappa with ministers & govt officials, it has been decided that institutes of higher education will be allowed to reopen from July 26, only vaccinated persons (partially or fully) will be given entry.”

• On July 16, 2021, Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister, CN Ashwathnarayan said the decision to open regular classes for degree classes would be taken in 3 to 4 days. The final decision would be taken after having a detailed discussion with the Chief Minister of Karnataka. He further added that 65% of the students studying in government, government-aided, private institutions had been vaccinated.

• .” He further added that to facilitate students writing the examination for degree courses, contact classes will be held, and students can utilize it to get any clarifications or doubts cleared and prepare for tests.

• On July 16, the Deputy Chief Minister had announced the practical exam dates for odd and even semester Diploma courses. The exams for odd semester students would be held from July 26 to 28, 2021.

CONCLUSION

• However, the theory exams for any remaining subjects would be held from August 2 to 21, 2021. On the other hand, the practical exams for even semesters would be held from November 2 to 12, 2021 and theory exams from November 17, 2021, to December 6, 2021.

• The Karnataka Government had also decided to reopen all medical and dental colleges with immediate effect. However, there is no update yet on the reopening of schools across the state. Degree college students can expect a decision on the reopening of Karnataka colleges by today or latest, by tomorrow, on July 19, 2021.
