BENGALURU: A 71-year-old fertiliser businessman from Chikkamagaluru alleged that a miscreant befriended him in a hotel at Jayanagar recently and took away cash and gold jewellery worth over Rs 3 lakh.
Jayanagar police registered a cheating case on September 5 based on a complaint from GK Nagesh, a resident of Arsikere and owner of a fertiliser shop .
Nagesh had come to Bengaluru for business and booked a room at Pai Viceroy Hotel in Jayanagar 3rd Block. On September 1, Nagesh went to a nearby hotel for lunch. An unknown person sat beside him and introduced himself as Suresh, a doctor at Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital. “He’s about 30 years old. Later, we went to my room and I said I wanted to see an operation theatre. He took me to the hospital but did not enter the OT as he said there’s a huge rush. I returned to my hotel by 7.30pm and found Rs 1.2 lakh, 51 grams of chain, ring and Aadhaar card and voter ID missing,” Nagesh said.
Nagesh alleged the ‘doctor’ had returned to his hotel room before him and took away his valuables.
