India’s World Cup-winning captain has joined the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) camp in Surat ahead of the new season. One of the finest leaders in the history of the game, Dhoni architected CSK’s title triumph in the 14th season of domestic cricket’s biggest extravaganza – the IPL. Under Dhoni’s leadership, the CSK side defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (IPL) in the IPL 2021 final to lift the famous trophy for the fourth time at Dubai.
  • On Sunday, the official social media handle of the Chennai Super Kings franchise shared an unseen photo of skipper Dhoni. Nicknamed Thala Dhoni, the legendary skipper of the Super Kings was all smiles as the Ranchi stalwart arrived at the CSK camp ahead of the new season. “The Hi we have been waiting for! Day1: #WhistlePodu #SingamsInSurat,” CSK captioned the unseen photo of Thala Dhoni on the microblogging site.

CSK’s latest post about Thala Dhoni soon became the talk of the town on social media. The talismanic batter of the Chennai Super Kings franchise was retained by the reigning champions for the 15th season of the world’s richest T20 league. Four-time champions Chennai Super Kings will play the tournament opener at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. As per the latest developments, Dhoni and Co. are gearing up for their title-defending season in Surat. Dhoni’s CSK launched their pre-IPL 2022 camp at Lalbhai Contractor Stadium in Surat on Wednesday (March 2).

CSK will play the curtain-raiser of the IPL 2022 against last season’s runners-up KKR at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 26. Dhoni’s CSK are slotted in Group B alongside Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Kane Williamson’s Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Gujarat Titans. Dhoni & Co. will face RCB, SRH, PBKS and Gujarat Titans twice in the group stage of IPL 2022. The defending champions had re-signed Ambati Rayudu, Dwayne Bravo, Deepak Chahar, Robin Uthappa and KM Asif at the IPL mega auction.
