Reopening schools in Karnataka: Education Dept to submit report to CM after more expert consultations

  • Karnataka Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar Wednesday said that the government will decide on reopening schools only after further expert consultations with experts, officials, school managements, and other stakeholders of the system.
  • After meeting officials of the Education Department in Bengaluru, the Minister said that no decision was taken yet on reopening schools or resuming the ‘Vidyagama’ scheme.
  • “The Commissioner of Public Instructions consult officials of Health and Social Welfare departments, BBMP, and representatives of School Development Monitoring Committees (SDMCs) from all taluks across the. Departments in charge of Morarji Desai residential schools, Kittur Chennamma schools and Ashrama schools in the state will also be consulted,” Suresh Kumar said.

CONCLUSION

  • While the department plans to wrap up consultations by Friday, officials added that a report will be sent to the Chief Minister and the Minister will apprise the former of the situation seeking advice on the final decision.
  • Inputs will be sought from representatives of private school managements and school teachers’ associations before submitting the report, the Minister added.
