Sourav Ganguly congratulates U19 team on winning World Cup title, announces cash prize

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly took to social media to congratulate the team and the Indian board also announced a cash reward for all the players and the support staff.
  • Ganguly took to social media to congratulate the Men in Blue for their win and said a cash reward of Rs 40 lakh for each player was a small token of appreciation from the board.

  • Earlier, BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced a cash reward of Rs 40 lakh for each player of the World Cup-winning U-19 team as well as a cash prize of Rs 25 lakhs for all the support staff.

  • Reacting to the win, VVS Laxman, head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA), thanked the selection committee.
  • “Firstly, huge congratulations to the selection committee, because it was a new selection committee and it was quite challenging for them to identify this group and after that I think it’s the coaching staff with Hrishikesh as the head coach, Sairaj Munish Bali and all the support staff. The way they brought this group together, they worked really hard and won the Asia Cup and the preparation to this World Cup was fantastic,” Laxman said after the match.
