On Saturday, Sania and her doubles partner Bethanie bowed out of the Grand Slam event. The Russian duo of Veronika Kudermetova and Elena Vesnina defeated Sania and her partner 4-6, 3-6 in the 2nd round of the Wimbledon Championships. However, Sania is still plying her trade in the Grand Slam event as she has advanced to the 3rd round of Wimbledon mixed doubles with partner Rohan Bopanna.
The Indian duo outclassed Britain’s pair of Aidan McHugh and Emily Webley-Smith 6-3, 6-1 to enter the next round of the Grand Slam event on Sunday. Sania and Bopanna are set to lock horns with Andreja Klepac and Jean-Julien Rojer in the round of 16 of the Wimbledon Championships on Tuesday.
