 Veteran Samajwadi Party leader and Member of Legislative Council Mulayam Singh Yadav has passed away. Mulayam (92) breathed his last at his native village in Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya district at around 9 pm on Saturday.
His last rites were performed on Sunday.
Mulayam Singh shared his name with Samajwadi Party founder-patron Mulayam Singh Yadav. MLC Mulayam was also a close aide of former SP president Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Describing his death as an irreparable loss to the party, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav said he was a simple man who did not even bother to get a house constructed in Auraiya town and stayed at his village home. “He was an example of how a political leader can live a simple life among his people who vote for him,” Akhilesh said in his condolence message.

Mulayam was a three-time member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council. He had also served as a block president twice.
His grandson Gaurav Yadav said that he had recently returned home from a Kanpur hospital; however his health deteriorated again.
SP district president Rajveer Singh Yadav, former MLA Pradeep Yadav, Indrapal Singh Pal, former district president Ashok Yadav, former principal Dr. Ajab Singh Yadav, former Block Chief Vinay Yadav, Vaikunth Yadav and other leaders reached the village and paid tribute to the late leader. His grandson Gaurav Yadav said that recently he returned home from the Regency Hospital in Kanpur.
