CBSE 10th Result 2021: To be announced on June 20, CBSE releases policy for Class 10 students’ evaluation

• Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE 10th Result 2021 evaluation criteria has been released. In an official mail, the board has laid out the policy on the basis of which the marks would be calculated and awarded to students.

• The schools are required to evaluate and assess the students based on the criteria and submit the marks by June 5. CBSE 10th Result 2021 would be declared on June 20, 2021.

• CBSE Class 10 Board Exams 2021 were cancelled vide notification dated April 14, 2021. In view of the second wave of the pandemic, the board decided to assess the students on the basis of internal assessment.

• Students, however, have the opportunity to appear for the examinations at a later date in case they are not satisfied with the marks thus awarded.

• In continuation to the same, the board has now released a detailed policy document basis which the marks would be calculated and awarded. In the circular dated May 1, 2021, internal assessment marks out of 20, as already awarded by the schools, would remain as it is. For the remaining 80 marks, the schools would give students a weighted average where 10 marks would be from their periodic tests, 30 from Half Yearly and 40 from Pre-boards.

• To ensure a fair evaluation, schools have been asked to form a Result Committee including the Principal of the school along with 7 members.

• The 7-member team would include a schoolteacher each of Mathematics, Social Science, Science, and two languages. Apart from this, there would also be two teachers from a neighboring school who would act as external members.

• To keep the assessment fair, schools have been instructed to clearly define the rationale behind the marks allotted. In case a student has not appeared for any of the assessments conducted by the school, the school is required to call the student and assess him/her remotely.

• Apart from this, the schools would also be required to standardize the marks based on the schools’ performance in previous CBSE Board Examinations. Historical data of the schools would be considered to ensure a wider parity.

CONCLUSION

• Result committee has also been given the authority to consider Class 9 marks in case they feel that the result is skewed and is not matching the average of the reference year as per the policy.

• In the detailed 18-page policy document, the board has laid out the various clauses, the concerns and also the timeline of the activity. The schools have been instructed to form a committee by May 5, finalize the rationale by May 10, submit the marks to CBSE by June 5. Subsequently, the results would be declared by CBSE by June 20.
