COVID-19 management: PM Narendra Modi to interact with state, district officials today

  • In what can be termed as a very crucial meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with field officials from states and districts to converse about their experience in handling the pandemic at 11 am on Tuesday.
  • Notably, the officials who would apprise PM Modi about the COVID situation, are posted in states and districts, which have recorded significant surge in coronavirus cases.
  • The Prime Minister’s Office said that the field officials would share their experience and suggest measures to contain the Covid spread, especially in semi-urban and rural areas.
  • “Through their interaction with the Hon’ble Prime Minister, the officials will share some best practices, in addition to suggestions and recommendations for continuing our ongoing battle against COVID-19, especially in semi-urban and rural areas,” the PMO stated.
  • The PMO also said that the officials who have been fighting against the pandemic also have success stories to share which could be replicated in other parts of the country.
  • “The battle against COVID-19 across various states and districts is being led at the cutting edge by field-level officials. Many of them have shown great initiative and come out with imaginative solutions. A better appreciation of such initiatives will help towards developing effective response plan, targeted strategy implementation and support necessary policy interventions,” it said.

  • Many effective measures have been taken – from ensuring that strict containment measures are undertaken to control the spread, to preparing the healthcare facilities for handling the raging second wave, to ensuing availability of healthcare workforce and a seamless supply chain for logistics, these districts in their relentless efforts to manage the situation also have success stories that could be replicated across the country, the PMO further said.
  • The field officials from Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Karnataka, Bihar, Assam, Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, Goa and Himachal Pradesh will take part in the meeting.
