Delhi markets allowed to function as per normal time from today;8 pm deadline will not be applicable

  • Markets in Delhi will be allowed to operate as per their normal time from August 23, Chief Minister Arvind Kejirwal announced on Saturday.
  • Currently, the markets of Delhi are allowed to open till 8 pm amid the coronavirus pandemic.
  • Taking to Twitter, Kejriwal said that restriction will be removed and markets will be allowed to open as per their schedule starting Monday, in view of a drop in coronavirus cases in the national capital.
  • “In view of the coronavirus situation, the markets were presently allowed to stay open till 8 pm. With the decline in COVID-19 cases, this time limit is being done away with from Monday ie(23 August). The markets can stay open according to their normal timing,” he wrote on Twitter in Hindi.

  • Delhi on Saturday reported zero death due to COVID-19 and 19 fresh cases, the lowest since April 15 last year, according to data shared by the city health department.
  • This is the second consecutive day that zero fatality has been logged in a day in the national capital.
  • This is also the twelfth time since the onset of the second wave of the pandemic in the national capital that daily fatality figure stood nil.
