  • Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday promised Delhi-like education in poll-bound Gujarat. Today, he said that even the people of BJP are now raising questions on the crumbling education of Gujarat, where the saffron party has won six straight terms. Gujarat will go to polls later this year.
  • Kejriwal said rising above the party line, voices from the BJP have started coming in for good education in the state. He said the BJP could not give good education in 27 years in Gujarat. “AAP government will give Delhi-like good education in Gujarat as well by taking along the people of the state and the parties,” he said.
  • After first unsuccessful attempt in 2014, Kejriwal is eying national expansion and has set his eyes on Himachal and Gujarat – both states will go to polls later this year. He had also contested the recent assembly polls in Uttarakhand but could not open his account. However, an overwhelming win in Punjab has boosted the morale of the party.

  • The AAP won 92 of 117 seats with 42 per cent vote share in Punjab.
  • This will be the second time the AAP will be contesting assembly polls in Gujarat. In the last polls, the AAP fared very poorly with just 0.1 per cent vote, while the BJP got over 49 per cent vote. The contest in Gujarat is expected to be bipolar between the BJP and the Congress. In the last polls, the Congress managed to win 77 seats, 16 more from its last tally.
  • Kejriwal claims to have transformed government schools in Delhi. He also says that he has given corruption-free government in the national capital in the last eight years. With these achievements in Delhi, Kejriwal is planning to expand the party and form the government in other states where the Congress has failed to challenge the BJP.
