HIGHLIGHTS
-
Last year, people around the world did some pretty bizarre things amid nationwide lockdowns to satisfy their fast-food cravings.
-
A bloke in Australia drove 32 kms from his home to the main city in search of Butter Chicken. Then a Russian millionaire who had a desperate craving for McDonald’s burgers and fries flew 720 miles and spent nearly $2,680 to acquire a Big Mac and fries.
-
Things have not changed much in 2021 as well.
-
Lockdown restrictions may have been lifted in almost all countries but hunger pangs and craze for fast-food are still making people do some unfathomable things.
-
In January, a 34-year-old drove from Luton to Devizes as his hometown did not have a McDonald’s outlet. However, the man was stopped by the cops and handed a penalty of £200 for flouting lockdown rules. To add to his woes, his car was seized for not having insurance.
-
In a similar case, a helicopter pilot reportedly flew 128 km amid lockdown restrictions in the UK to get himself a beef roast sandwich.
-
According to reports, the unnamed pilot bought a ‘roast beef in caramelised onion gravy barm’ from Chipping Farm Shop in Chipping, Lancashire after having landed his helicopter in a nearby area.
-
Reports aid that a resident monitored the helicopter from City Airport in Greater Manchester to the shop using a flight-tracking website.
-
The fast-food outlet shared a short clip on Instagram showing a member of staff handing over the food to the pilot.

The post was captioned: “When your customers are literally flying in to collect their favourite ‘Roast Beef in Caramelised Onion Gravy Barms’.”
-
The adventure may have been a memorable one for the pilot and the fast-food outlet but it has not gone down well with the police.
-
The video has now sparked strong reactions from social media users, who criticised the shop for entertaining the man’s request.
