Karnataka: 16-year-old girl student gang-raped while going to school in Dakshin Kannada

There seems to be no end to crime against women and children across the country. In a fresh incident, a 16-year-old girl student was allegedly gang-raped while she was going to school in Karnataka.
The horrific incident took place in Dakshin Kannada district on Friday. Police have now taken two people into custody, said SP Rishikesh Sonawane.
The girl in her complaint to police stated that she was abducted in a car by a person known to her while she was on her way to school.
There were four other occupants in the car who were accused of gang-raping her.
Police said they have filed a case against the accused under Sections 366(a) (inducing a minor girl) 376(D), 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC and Sections 4 and 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Cops say further probe is underway in the case.
In a similar incident reported from Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh, a Class 12 student was kidnapped and raped allegedly by an e-rickshaw driver. The girl later died of her injuries. The crime took place when the girl was returning home from school.

The local police have rounded up some suspects after the victim’s family staged a protest at the police station. Meerut SSP Prabhakar Chaudhary said police have detained some suspects after scanning CCTV footage.
The horrific incident took place as the girl was waiting for an e-rickshaw to go home after the exam on Wednesday. However, she did not return home. Later, the family mounted a search but failed to locate her. She was later dumped outside her home.
