Karnataka COVID-19 scare: Over 60 students & staffers test positive at nursing institute

  • On Wednesday, as many as 60 students and staff members of Noorunnisa Institute of Nursing tested positive for COVID-19 in the Kolar district of Karnataka. Reportedly, most of the infected students arrived in Kolar from Kerala. The college was sanitised and shut after the cases were reported.
  • Mirror Now’s Neha Hebbale reported that Karnataka’s Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar will be visiting Kolar today. Hebbale added that as per the claims made by the district administration, the students were carrying negative COVID-19 reports with them.
  • As per reports, the nursing institute has 150 students and they are being tested for coronavirus. The development came to light on a day when several states reopened schools and colleges for students on Wednesday.

    Home minister on ‘controlled’ COVID-19 casesĀ 

    On Wednesday, the health minister stated that the coronavirus outbreak has been controlled in the state. He added that now, the state reports around 700-800 cases per day while initially, it reported 50,000 cases every day.
    As per the state health department, Karnataka reported 1,217 new COVID-10 cases along with 1,198 recoveries and 25 deaths in the last 24 hours. The state has 18,386 active COVID-19, cases as of Wednesday.
