  • New Delhi: A day after Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh slammed the AAP for issuing a notification to implement the farm laws in the national capital, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal hit back at him for doing “low-level politics” at a critical time.

Arvind Kejriwal

  • Addressing a media briefing on Wednesday, Kejriwal said,
“Punjab CM has made allegations against me that I have passed the black laws in Delhi. How can he do such low-level politics in this fragile situation? These three are Centre’s law. The day President gave his nod to these laws, they came into force the same day.”
“It’s not up to any state government to implement them. Had it been so why would farmers of country hold talks with Centre, they would have raised the issues with the chief ministers of their respective states,” he added.
  • The AAP chief further said that Punjab CM had several chances to stop farm bills but he did not do so.
“BJP-ruled Centre is angry with me for not permitting stadiums to be converted into jails. The Centre wanted to shift the agitating farmers there. I was pressurized to turn stadiums into jails, I got phone calls from many people…Captain sahab, are you being pressurized by the same people to make false allegations against me,” the Delhi CM added.

Punjab CM’s attack at AAP

  • On Tuesday, the Punjab CM had come down heavily upon the AAP for issuing a notification to implement the “draconian” farm laws in Delhi, alleging the party did it in the “midst of a crisis” while “pretending” to stand with the farmers.
  • While the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was claiming to support the agitating farmers, the Arvind Kejriwal government in Delhi “brazenly” executed the “black laws” through a gazette notification on November 23, Singh said in a statement.
“Quite clearly, the AAP had been working behind the farmers’ backs all these days,” the Punjab CM said.
He further hit out at the AAP for “misleading” the farmers” unions by “pretending” to support their cause, while Kejriwal’s party was merely “indulging” in political theatrics.
