One such Hindu festival that falls during monsoon is “Nag Panchami”.

In the honor of Hindu snake God, Nag Panchami is celebrated in all corners of India. According to the Hindu calendar, Nag Panchami is celebrated during the month of Shravan on the 5th day. There are several tales related to the celebration of Nag Panchami. It is believed that Lord Krishna had blessed the poisonous Naag Kalia after defeating him and said that people who will offer milk and prayers to the snake on that day will be relieved from their sins.

There are certain rituals performed on this day. Many people observe a fast on this day. People take bath and wear new clothes. Sweets are prepared and offered to snake God. Snake idols are made and worshipped with milk, turmeric grass, kumkum, and flower. Hence this festival is celebrated with faith and devotion.
